As we return from the long, warm (much needed) Memorial Day weekend, we arrive back to a continually evolving campus.
During the spring the Marino Family raised over $30,000 in donations to build, and name, a baseball field after their son Douglas, a CCC/BSD student. I am happy to report that construction has begun!
Over the past two weeks we have had more than 1,200 tons of fill delivered and bulldozed to level the future area. I don't think any of us expected how much dirt it would actually take to make the site level. Cory Fisher from Windover Construction helped us get the space leveled and has really created a solid foundation.
A number of estimates have come in and we hope to continue with the backstop and safety fencing during the next two weeks. The loam and infield will be laid and then grass will be hydroseeded into place. Although the field won't be ready until early August, we anticipate and hope to continue some of our baseball clinics.
Big thanks to Windover Construction, Spencer Associates, Powell Sand and Gravel, Volvo Rents, Cory Fisher, and especially the Marino Family.
Not only will we say "Play Ball!", but also say "Play Ball for All!" |
