Family Sign Language Program

raichaelThe Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf provides training programs for families of the students enrolled in CCC/BSD programs. American Sign Language classes are offered to families as part of that training component. Classes are also available to community families.

Family classes are geared toward the entire family, focusing on Deaf storytelling, arts and crafts, and games. Theme based ASL vocabulary and grammatical structures are taught. Families are exposed to other families with children who are Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing with communication needs, as well as Deaf adults.

Classes are offered once a month, on the third or fourth Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00. Babysitting is available, but not required, for ages 5 and under.
