Parent Education and Support

Faculty and staff offer ongoing training on-campus during after-school hours and on scheduled Saturdays to Beverly School for the Deaf parents, professionals and those interested from the general community. Training topics are developed by the Beverly School for the Deaf Parent Advisory Group and incorporate a range of Deaf and Special Needs topics. When necessary, outside trainers may be brought in depending on topics of interest.

Beverly School for the Deaf Library and Resource Center for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing

Beverly School for the Deaf is developing a resource center and library. This center will provide unbiased, researched-based information and referral for parents of Deaf children, professionals providing services, and the community interested in better understanding Deaf culture. We are accepting contributions of all types of media – including: text, video tape, journals, and web-based information.

Sibshops

Brothers and sisters of special needs children, ages 7 to 12 come together at this workshop type event.  At Sibshops brothers and sisters of special needs children will:

  • Meet other siblings of children with special needs.

  • Have an opportunity to talk with others who understand what it is like to have a sibling with a disability.

  • Make new friends.

  • Have lots of fun!

Usually held on a Saturday for about 4 hours.  For the next scheduled Sibshops day, check our monthly calendar page.

This program is cosponsored by Beverly School for the Deaf , North Shore Education Consortium, Family Resource Center at North Shore Children’s Hospital, Salem, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Greater North Shore, Scott Buchanan Autism Support Center and The Arc of East Middlesex, Reading.
